Professor ENGEES

Sylvain Payraudeau (38 years old), is lecturer since 2005 in the National School for Water and Environmental Engineering of Strasbourg (ENGEES) and scientist since 2009 in the Laboratory of Hydrology and Geochemistry of Strasbourg (UMR 7517) at University of Strasbourg. He received his M.Sc. in Biology and Geology from the University of Nantes (France), and his Postgraduate Master in Hydrology from the University of Montpellier. His PhD research on the impact of rainfall event on the nitrogen loads has been sponsored by the French Research Ministry (Bourse MNERT) in the UMR “Spatial Structures and Systems” research center (CEMAGREF/ENGREF). The PhD results were used in a modeling benchmark in the European project DITTY” Development of an Information Technology Tool for the Management of European Southern Lagoons under the influence of river-basin runoff. During the post-doc, he developed a method for estimating nitrogen emissions at the catchment scale, to be used in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) in the French Agronomical Research Center (INRA) in the “Soil Agro and HydroSystem” a French Mixed Research Unit (UMR). Since 2010, he worked with Dr. Gwenaël Imfeld in the research group « Wetland biogeochemistry and contaminant transfer », one of the four groups of the team « Processes and Modeling ». He is coordinator of the national project ENRHY (http://enrhy.unistra.fr/) and the european PhytoRET (INTERREGIV Upper Rhine : http://www.phytoret.eu/). Dr. Sylvain Payraudeau is author or co-author of 19 peer-reviewed articles (ISI) and 4 peer-reviewed proceedings.
